CASTING DESIGN
From our many years experience in this demanding industry, our methods engineers and metallurgists are able to advise our customers on how best to design their cast steel products, to achieve the best combination of function, strength, cost and ease of manufacture.
3D models are created using Solidworks, to show the “as cast” design and these are then utilised to carry out Magnasoft mould fill and solidification simulations. The simulation results show whether the chosen casting method will give rise to any internal defects. This enablies us to refine our method to eliminate this type of defect, prior to production.
We then utilise the best possible foundry practices to control the many process variables to achieve the highest level of “as cast” quality. This enables us to achieve short production lead times and keep our manufacturing costs to a minimum.
PATTERN MAKING
New patterns are made by traditional manual methods or by CNC machine in order to meet the customers requirements for accuracy, build quality and cycle time. Existing patterns are also refurbished to maintain them in the best possible condition thus maintaining our required high level of mould quality.
Our extensive pattern storage warehouse enables us to house all our live patterns in a dry environment and our pattern tracking system records the movements and location of each pattern.
